Drift the Kasilof with me in 2010.
King Salmon: May 1-July 31 Kings are our Specialty. We generally fish Kings on the Kasilof River in a drift boat and Kenai Kings on the Kenai in a motorized boat. Kings caught off the Kasilof River will be much smaller than the Kings caught on the Kenai but they are much more abundant. Kasilof Kings average 15-25 pounds but I have caught up to 60 pounders. Basically, your success rate is higher but typically your fish size is smaller. The great thing about the Kasilof is not only the increased action over the Kenai but the solitude of the trip. It is all drift boat and the scenery is gorgeous. I would reccommend every party schedule at least one trip on the Kasilof as it is just such a neat trip. |
