Hello Kenai Anglers, well summer is finally here on the Kenai peninsula in Alaska and the 2026 fishing season has begun, so I wanted to give you a brief rundown on what is happening. So where do I start, well it has been a cold spring here on the Kenai but finally we are warming up and the weather here on the Kenai Peninsula is looking amazing for at least the next week or so, and we are expecting our first 70 degree day today so that is awesome. Well the Kasilof River King Salmon season is going on now and although it has started off slow they have been reporting some good catches as of the last couple days. Also I’ve been hearing of a few sockeye being caught on the kasilof River and the Kenai River however the good numbers of fish are still a few weeks away. Next the salt water fishing For Halibut and cod out of Ninilchik, Homer and Seward should be getting very good now as it is peak time for the saltwater fishing here on the Kenai peninsula. And lets talk about the Lake fishing, all the local Lakes are ice free now and the fishing is very good, I took a group last night up to the Kenai National wildlife refuge to one of the Lakes to target Lake Trout and the Fishing and weather were great, we caught a bunch of nice lakers and had a great time and the bonus was my clients getting to see a mama Black Bear with two cubs, so overall a great trip. I always encourage folks when they arte here this time of year to get off the beaten path and explore the wonderful Lake fishing we have here on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. I know that everyone comes here for the Salmon and Halibut fishing but if you don’t get out on some of the local lakes I really think you are missing out!
