Hello Anglers, well it is almost mid may here on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska and the 2026 fishing season is here. Here in Alaska we have had a very cold spring this year so the fishing season is getting off to a slow start, and we all have fingers crossed that we will get some warmer days soon. By this time last year we already been doing fishing trips on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and having some fun days on the lakes catching Lake Trout, however as of today we still have ice on the lakes. However the big lakes should be open any day and I can’t wait to get out on the water! The River fishing is also off to a slow start due to cold temps and heavy shore ice, but I do anticipate the guys will start floating the Kasilof River and targeting the first run King Salmon any day and there should be a few King Salmon in the River by now! Also it is getting very close to prime time in the Salt water fishing and I would think the Halibut fishing out of Deep Creek and Homer should be getting hot very soon. So as the weather continues to warm up and all the different fishing opportunities begin to take here in Alaska on the Kenai I will be sure to update you all on the current fishing report. I will be watching the lakes close and as soon as there is open water I’ll be out there chasing Lakers! Next I want to talk about the 2026 season here on the Kenai, just as spring has been slow to come I would say the bookings have also been slow coming in as well and although a lot of my repeat clientele have already secured their dates I am baffled by how many prime dates for Sockeye Salmon and Silver Salmon that I still have open and also I have good dates for the June Rainbow Trout opener on the Kenai River still open. So if you’ve been on the fence about booking some dates for the 2026 fishing season here on the Kenai let me assure you that you can still get in the book for some very prime dates this summer. King Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Silver Salmon, Rainbow Trout or spring Lake Trout I still have great dates open. So I encourage you to give me a call and we can put a great fishing trip together for you here on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska for this summers fishing season.
