Hello Kenai River anglers, Well it is mid June here on the Kenai in Alaska and the 2025 fishing season is in full swing so I just wanted to give a quick update on the local fisheries. So starting out with the Kenai River the much anticipated Rainbow Trout opener has started and the Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden fishing has been good and should remain good for the next few weeks. Also in the Kenai River the first run Sockeye are running now and making their way to the Russian River the fishing is not hot but if you’re patient you can harvest some Sockeyes. Next on the Kasilof River the first run King Salmon fishery has been going on the run has probably peaked now and will start to slow down but they are still catching King Salmon. The Kasilof River Sockeye Run is doing well and should continue to get better every day. The Salt water fishing in Cook Inlet and Kachemak bay is doing well and I’ve been get good reports on the Halibut fishing when the tides are good. The Lake Trout fishing should still be good but it won’t be long before those fish start getting harder to catch so if you want to get out for Lakers I would go soon. Okay well that is the fishing report here on the Kenai peninsula in Alaska.
