Hello and merry Christmas from the Kenai here in Alaska at Jim Rusk Fishing. I hope that everyone is filled with the Christmas spirit and are planning a fun filled holiday with friends and family this holiday season. Well 2025 has came and went and we are now on the verge of 2026! I hope that you got out fishing last summer and have been enjoying having some wild caught Alaska Salmon in your freezer this winter, I know I have. I go thru many different ways to cook my Kenai River Salmon but lately I’ve been cooking Salmon tacos and Salmon patties a lot, so good and good for you. How ever I think in the new year I’m going to explore some new recipes for Salmon and Halibut just to mix it up a bit. It is amazing if you look online how many recipes are out there for preparing Salmon, that’s one thing I love about Salmon is it is so versatile and there so many great ways to cook it. I feel so b blessed to live in Alaska as I’m sure you know prices at the grocery store these days are just crazy and it is so nice to have all my protein needs covered, with Salmon, Halibut, Caribou and some moose I rarely have to buy any protein. Well I’ve got my calendar for the 2026 fishing season and have started to get all my repeat clients on the schedule for the 2026 Kenai River Alaska fishing season. Are you planning an Alaska fishing trip for the 2026 fishing season, if so nows the time to start getting your dates booked things are starting to get booked up already, your lodging car rentals saltwater and river guides all starting to book up so I highly recommend getting all your reservations in place. Also if there is someone special in your life that has always wanted to do an Alaska fishing trip or has fished in Alaska and is wanting to come and fish again I can’t think of a better Christmas gift than a fishing trip in Alaska on the Kenai with Jim Rusk Fishing! So it is hard to believe but the 2026 fishing season will be my 40th year guiding anglers here in Alaska at Jim Rusk Fishing. Since 1987 I have been guiding Anglers from all over the world and all walks of life. I guess I should be thinking about retirement but at this point I just can’t imagine being or doing anything else in the summer other than chasing salmon around on the mighty Kenai River here in Alaska, i guess it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Okay well anyway I hope that everyone has a great Christmas and a happy New Year and I look forward to serving you for another great fishing season here on the Kenai River in Alaska in 2026.
