Mid July Kenai Fishing Report

Hi, everyone, and greetings from Alaska here is that mid July fishing report.

The King Salmon fishing has been amazing this season on both the Kenai and Kasilof rivers! Because of great numbers of returning King Salmon, we have had all bait restrictions and slot limits removed, and everyone agrees we are seeing the best King Salmon fishing we’ve had in many years. All predictions are for great King Salmon fishing to continue to the end of the month.

The Sockeye Salmon fishing has been decent and people have had quality fishing, albeit, we have yet to see the big July numbers, expected. I would guess that we should start to see the run begin peaking sometime this week.

Reports are that the trophy Rainbow Trout fishing is starting to pick up and ought to increase in the next couple weeks.

Cook Inlet Halibut fishing remains strong and I have been seeing some very large fish being caught.

The Silver Salmon have not shown up in the rivers yet, but I’m hearing reports of them being in the lower portion of the Cook Inlet. So, hopefully by the 1st of August we will have good numbers in both the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers.

Thats it for this Kenai fishing report, I hope to see you out there!
