Hello Alaska Anglers, well summer is here in Alaska and I am happy to report that fishing is has begun! I had a fun night fishing with my friends on Hidden lake for Lake Trout on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. The weather treated us pretty good no rain and not much wind, the fishing was a little slow they were not on the bite but we did manage to catch some decent fish no big ones but still a good time. It felt so good to be back on the water after a long Alaska winter. Also I have been hearing some good reports from the saltwater, the Halibut are moving back in to their summer feeding grounds. The Kenai River is almost completely ice free with just a little bit of shore ice left. The Kasilof River King Salmon fishery will be in full swing in another week or so. First run Sockeye Salmon will be showing up in the Kenai in a week or two. All of the larger lakes in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula Kenai area are ice free and the smaller Lakes are mostly open. So Summer is here in Alaska and Fishing is the mission, with many great angling opportunities already available and many more available very soon , excitement is running high for another great season of catching King Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Silver Salmon, Pink Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden and Lake Trout on the Kenai Peninsula.
