Rainbow Trout – a beauty

So far we are having a good fishing season here on the Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. The first run of King Salmon has been quite good this year, which is very encouraging after several years of slower than normal returns.

Mostly, we are fishing the Kasilof River June 2015.  Other than a few slow days the King Salmon fishing has been really good. Also the first run sonar King Salmon counts for the Kenai River have been way better than the last few years.  They are considering opening the lower Kenai to King Salmon fishing early this year, With conservative management of the resource, I believe we have turned a corner. All aspect are looking positive for the future on the Kenai.

I’ve been fishing for early season Rainbow trout on the middle Kenai River and the fishing has been great. Yesterday I had a trip and I lost count of our catch. We landed 50 or 60 fish, which for June trout fishing is very good. And on top of great fishing we are enjoying the best weather in the month of June ever. Many days we are reaching the 80 degree mark.

Get those plane tickets and book your days and let’s go fishing!
