Hello Kenai River Anglers, with may fast approaching and my 38th season as a salmon and trout fishing guide right around the corner I am happy to report I’m still excited to get out there after all these years. Yes things have changed and yes I’ve fished  one hell of a lot of days, but overall still pumped to get back on the water. This coming week I will start going thru all the rods, reels and tackle as  well as uncovering my willie boat, servicing my Mercury outboards and just getting everything in tip top shape and ready to go. As of last season I am no longer rowing the Kasilof River and just focusing on fishing the Kenai River in the power boat, however if you are interested in getting on the Kasilof for those first run King Salmon I am working with some really good guides and can help you get those trips booked. And meanwhile I’ll be over on the Kenai doing the early Rainbow Trout trips as well as some first run Sockeye Salmon trips. So if you are new to fishing in Alaska or with Jim Rusk Fishing, we will be targeting King Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Silver Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Char and Lake Trout depending on what time of the season you choose to fish with us in Alaska. Also if you are interested in getting out on the saltwater for some Halibut or other saltwater species we have some great guides for that as well, so we can help you with those trips also. We always provide all bait and tackle needed for any of the species of Salmon and Trout you will be targeting. I do recommend bringing your own waders if you are planning to target Sockeye Salmon however if you do not have waders we can provide them for you, it is just nice to have your own set if possible. We will always make taking care of your catch a high priority and of course will always do a beautiful job of filleting your catch when we get done with the trip each day. We do not vacuum seal and freeze your catch but we work with local fish processors who do a great job of getting your catch ready to take home. We love doing the Trout trips but just know that our trout trips, Rainbow, Dolly Varden, Arctic char or Lake trout are always catch and release so if your looking to bring fish home with you, you will want to schedule a Salmon or Halibut trip. Okay well that’s all I’ve got today, Salmon  and Trout fishing with me in Alaska this summer lets do it!
