Hello Kenai River anglers, well it is august now here on the Kenai and we are in a transition from summer to fall. The Kenai River is still producing limit catches of Sockeye Salmon most days, however it is becoming more tide dependent as it seems we are getting one good shot of fish each day so being in the right place at the right time is becoming more important. The Sockeye Salmon run overall has been fantastic on the Kenai River and the Kasilof River but sadly all good things must come to an end and I anticipate the Sockeye numbers entering the Kenai River will begin to dramatically drop in the coming week to 10 days. Now for the good news Silver Salmon season is here, my favorite time of year! We have been catching some Silver Salmon the last few days while targeting Sockeye Salmon, and feel confident that if we went early and targeted Silver Salmon we could get limit catches or at least come close. Silver Salmon fishing is my favorite, they bite good, fight hard, and eat fantastic. I can not wait to get out there and start chasing these Silver bullets, and as soon as the Sockeye Salmon start to slow down Silvers will be the move. Also as the Sockeye Salmon start to thin out the Rainbow Trout fishing should start to get hot, always a fun day day on the water chasing big wild Rainbows! Okay well that is the Kenai River fishing report fall is here and the fishing is great give me a call and lets go fishing.
